The filter is designed to prevent water from being sucked into the sensors, which would cause extensive damage to the monitor. The filters also prevent dust and other particles from damaging the motorized sample pump and prolonging the operating life of your gas monitor.
Water trap filters should not be used where CL2, PH3, NH3, or HCN is being sampled, as the filter material can absorb these gases and provide a false reading.
